Hi all my name is Steve Neill and I have worked in motion picture visual effects for over 30 years. In that time I have created monsters, aliens and other make up effects for films, TV and commercials. In addition I have made miniatures and CGI animations. In this blog, as time allows I will be posting pictures from my past work as well as my current work. And visit my website for more fun: sneillfx
Enjoy the blog!

Hi, Steve,
Someone sent me this video, and it made me think of you: I remembered you love aviation models. This is one of those balsa radio-controlled affairs and, well, roll, pitch, and yaw have been taken to new heights and geometries!
Enjoy!

Hi Chris long time no see. Thanks for chacking in,
Steve
Hi Chris!
I’m Nick Pearce, Your cousin should have hopefully mentioned me a short while ago. I’m going to be visiting San fernando for a about 3 months from the UK starting at the end of the month, I’ve just finished University practicing Model making and I was hoping I could visit you and pick your brain as it were while I’m out there.
Hi Nick would that be Susan? BTW I’m Steve Neill, maybe you meant somwone else?
Steve
Cripes! sorry for getting your name mixed up there, I was talking to an class mate of mine when I began typing sorry for the goof up there, either way yes susan was the one who told me how to contact you, but yeah I was hoping to get the chance to meet you while I’m on holiday
No problem Chris let me know when you’re in town.

This is concerning the submarine George Washington
I see that you provide a CD with your 1/144 kit. I am building the sub in a bigger scale. Does you CD or plans have much in the way of deck details. If so, would you be willing to sell one which might help me in doing the final details of mine.
Hi Dave. There’s not much detail in the plans but then again the deck wasn’t that detailed. I’ll see what I can find as there were no plans on the CD. I might still have them some where. Lost from one of my many PCs but maybe backed up on CD.
Steve
Thanks I appreciate the reply.

Got your name from Carlos Santos. I’m looking for someone to build my Accurate Model’s 1:20 scale F-1 engine kit. If you are not familiar with the kit I think you can still see it at their web site. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks
Ron
Hi Steve,
Its great to see you are not letting all the talent that you have go to waste. Awesome work as usual!!!
Kevin it’s so good to hear from you! Hope you’re still flying and building. Talk about talent!
I’m still flying and building not posting that much on that.
Stay in touch Kevin!

Hey Steve, I am just getting started in 1/144 scale Ship modeling, with a focus on subs. Do you still offer your George Washington? Do you have any plans to create the Larger Ohio class, or know of anybody who makes one in this scale? Feel free to E-mail me P.Woog1@Gmail.com My name is Preston, and I work with a bunch of Ex-Submariners here at Boeing. I would love to Start a “Sub Club” here to serve the Puget Sound!
Hi Preston I have no planes for any more scratch built subs. I have two big ones and one Gato that will hold me. I don’t make kits anymore too problematic. Some can build others blame you who can’t for making the kit wrong.
If you get a club going in this area let me know I’d love to run with someone. It’s been along time not many bubble heads out here!
Steve
Hi Steve, Matt Boardman suggested i contact you about having a model of Voyager made and painted. Only issue is that i am in the UK. Could you get in touch and let me know if you could do this and what it would cost?
sure Jamie shoot me an email. It’s done all the time.
Steve
Hi Steve Neill,
First off, i really injoy your Youtube movies and updates. You are one of the few people that give very clear info on how the original models where like and how things are and where done in the studio’s. learned a lot from you. So i present you with this dilemma.
Maybe you can help me with this question? Did Polar Lights disarm the 1/350 TOS Enterprise? For 2 weeks, I’m one of the few lucky owners in the Netherlands, of the 1/350 TOS Enterprise kits. I’m one of those modelers that wants to make the model as realistic as possible.( So yes, no gritt-lines, only penciled ones (maybe).)
So i got my hands on a nice set of compact laserkits. Opened the box of the model, took out the saucer, but no 3 faser emitter resessies on the saucer. Went thru every enterprise technical manual, blue print set and technical wallposter. All have the emitter resesses on them. The only resource i don’t have access to is the studio-model, can’t find any clear picture to see if there on there. Or if they had edit it later, on all the AMT/ERTL/Revell kits and all the other diagrams and pictures. Or is it posible that Polar Lights just forget to put them on the saucer? I understood that you made several of the TOS enterprises and got first-hand acces to the persons or sources that know the answer to this question: did Polar Lights disarm the Enterprise? Would love to hear from you if i’m wrong in the question.
Best regards en thanks,
Henk Hei
