Secondary hull masters coming to a close…

Got all the scribing done on the secondary hull today. Now I’m in the process of attaching the first half of the neck to it’s matched side of the hull. Once the epoxy sets up over night I can the match the opposite side and glue it on. Then a bit of putty on both halves and some cleaning up and that ends the secondary hull masters. That should all happen tomorrow.

Next up to finish off the pylons. That should take a day and it on to the last part. The nacelles.

I’m already working on getting 10 gallons of silicone. That’s over a grand of silicone. Yikes. Hoping to find a deal!

Back at the Big E…

Finally back to the Big E. Sorry to bore you but I’m fuzzy and found more bugs in the hull. So I spent the day preening some more. It’s nearly there. I will be able to scribe the hull tomorrow. Then it’s attach and align the neck to both halves. That will rap the secondary hull.

Here’s some pictures. Got to scribe the neck. The scribing needs a bit of clean up but only for aesthetics. After all these are only markers for the windows you’ll drill and file to the outside edge. Still…

A P-40 Warhawk for Christmas!!!

My wonderful wife and daughter gave me this beautiful P-40 for Christmas. Kyosho did as usual a great job on this old girl. Very little to build. Add engine, servos, radio and go fly! Oh decals retract skirts and a few other trim parts. ¬†With my busy schedule these days it’s the way to go. All wood built and covered. Fiberglass cowl. Counter rotating retracts built in and flaps! A full house. It’s the only way to fly.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking. Expect some building pictures along the way with everything else. Can’t wait to fly this class act!

More on the secondary hull…

Well why I wait on the cold and damp to dry out the paint on that submarine I had some time today to work on the secondary hull.

Got the blocks filled in behind the tabs. There’s still a gap to fill. Custom Replicas had that filler attacked to the array cone. But I extended the thickness of the blocks in as close as I could go and still get the array to fit. When the actual epoxy parts from the molds get assembled it will be easy to fill this slight gap in with a finishing glaze putty.

I’m getting real close to attaching the neck and scribing so I can move on to the last part of these masters. The nacelles.

I’ve had a lot of people ask me how will I light this model. Remember. These are the masters not the actual model. The masters will be molded and the actual model made in epoxy glass. Just in case you new to this thread and didn’t go back a read through it.

The raw balsa.

I hardened the edges with thin CA and cover with spot putty. This will sit until tomorrow and be sanded smooth.

Russian sub build holds the front

I’ll be working on this boat another couple of days. I will post some nearly finished pictures tomorrow.

Back to the Big E Sunday through the next couple of weeks before 3 more subs come knocking on my door to be built. One is the Disney Nautilus.
