Nautilus gets wet today!

Well I had a little trouble today. My wife was gone so I had to video myself using a tripod and my hands while I tried to drive the boat at the same time. So so. But I did get some footage that proves how well she works. She dives smooth and holds depth well. In fact at one point I went about 8 foot deep. No problems found and if your going to find it it’s at depth.

Towards the end of the run my daughter came home from the studio and I was about to ask her to shoot some video  when bubbles came rushing out of the boat and she began to sink. As it turned out the ESC had blown out and a fire was in the cylinder that created pressure and blew out on of the seals enough to let water in. No fault of the cylinder and as BigDave it’s maker said, ” I guess Ship happens!” LOL!

So off it goes to the BigDave guy who will fix the ESC and send it to Pat the owner. All is well that ends well. This rarely happens but today was my day. Oh and yes the ESC is the Electronic Speed Control for you non-RC folks.

Here’s a short video of the boat she’s a great one,

Back to Work on the TOS movie…

It’s been awhile (with all the work I have had flowing through my shop) since I worked on Fate Protects Fools, the TOS Star Trek movie. I’m now pass the back log and I’m back to it. Matt Boardman just finished up the first two CGI shots of the Neptune station.

The station was built from scratch by Matt. The Enterprise is the Evil Genius, Chris Martins Enterprise that has been modified by the hard work of David Clarke and Tony Bruno. The shuttle (which we will get a better look at later) was built by Chris as well.

I just cut the two shots in and added music and sound effects and I have to say it moved me to see it. I have done over 21 comps now of me on the bridge and all music and sound effects are added. It’s really starting to have that feel!

Soon as I get a few more shots I’ll post make the first trailer to tease you all with. I’ll be starting a new web site for the proposed series. “Star Trek Sirius” I’ll be asking for donations to make the show. It’s my hope to do a full one hour show and if all goes well continue on with more. Your donations will be the only way I can make this happen. And maybe something else.

I want to try and get a license so I can open a store on the same web site and include for sale some high end props, costumes, and more from my friends in this hobby. I have met so many great and talented people from our beloved hobby it would be great to support them and the show both making it a win, win for all who love Star Trek. You know who you are.

If any of you have any ideas or connections that might help me know where to start in getting a license please email or PM me.

Thanks a whole bunch!

Steve

Nautilus almost done

Well another half a day and she’s done. Just have a few small parts tomorrow to add and then in a couple of days after the paint thoroughly dries we can test her in the pool.

Here’s a few pictures. They are soft focus as I didn’t use the flash which washes out the paint job and look worse I think.

Final building video tomorrow.
