Chairs and Boats

So a lot more on the chair. Getting the surface smooth was a bit much as this fancy expensive finished plywood wasn’t so. It was pretty crappy. But a lot of filling and sanding and primer and filling and sanding and filling and sanding and primer and…I got the arms smooth. Good!

Then the photo etched brass grills showed up from the wonderful Eliot Brown and these really transform this basic RC sub of the Nautilus into the real deal.

Yes that’s me in the chair covered in the

dirt and grime but satisfied that I have experienced everything the people back 50 years ago this year experienced as they built this chair for the original Star Trek.

Day 4 on the Command Chair

Here it  is only day for and it’s entirely framed up with the exception of the arms. Tomorrow I sand it, cut the panel holes for the electronics and paint it. More tomorrow. Paul Butcher sits in the chair he has be so instrumental in building with me. The Madison chair is completed and ready to cover.
