Chairs and Boats

So a lot more on the chair. Getting the surface smooth was a bit much as this fancy expensive finished plywood wasn’t so. It was pretty crappy. But a lot of filling and sanding and primer and filling and sanding and filling and sanding and primer and…I got the arms smooth. Good!

Then the photo etched brass grills showed up from the wonderful Eliot Brown and these really transform this basic RC sub of the Nautilus into the real deal.

Yes that’s me in the chair covered in the

dirt and grime but satisfied that I have experienced everything the people back 50 years ago this year experienced as they built this chair for the original Star Trek.

Woohoo! there’s always more to do, never enough time and rarely anything goes perfect the first time Murphy’s Law.. Everything looks awesome! I’m working on my Command Cahir build today too. Keep on Trekkin! =/\=

    Steve,
I’m surprised to see you paint the chair before you cut the holes in the arm tops. Isn’t that going to mar the fancy paint?
