Finding my past

I have literally thousands of slides and pictures taken over the years from my long, still on going career.

The slides were a problem. The scanning services do charge a lot of money to scan and digitize slides. Those USB slide scanners are a joke. Poor quality images are a result of them. So Mary did some research and found out there is a camera attachment for SLR digital cameras that allows you to photograph your slides. If you have a good SLR then the quality of the pictures will be excellent.

Some of the slides are soft focus and others are great but with Photoshop you can do a lot to clean them up and improve the focus and clarity.

While going through my slides I found lots of pictures of “Visitor” artwork and greys I had made for “Sightings”, “Paranormal Borderline”, TV documentary’s and more. Some of these go back to 1978. Also some lost artwork I did for clients and some from my own experience I had forgotten.

I have also found slides from many of the movies and TV commercials I did back then and bit by bit I will share some of them with you.

I plan two photo books. The first book will be about my “Visitor” artwork and sculpture dating back to 1970.

The second book will cover my work in the motion picture industry spanning over 40 years.

So far this has been an amazing journey and it has been fun.

Here are a few teasers.

It’s starting to look a lot like X- Wing

It’s nice to have this break from CGI and writing to build a model, especially one like this.

I should have all the parts on today. Engines are lighted. Cockpit lighting next. Notice the engine fin mounts that were broken off. I replaced them with new ones fashioned from styrene.

As you can see I came up with this nifty magnet solution to having access to the internal electronics via removing wings if I ever need to and for painting.

George keeps getting more and more done on the Iron Giant.

Studio Scale X-Wing

I have had this for awhile now and thought it would make a nice build. I just started yesterday and got about three hours into it.

Progress so far in pictures.

More shop fun

Working on the “Iron Giant” screw and I should finish today. Soldered up the circuit board and painted the parts. Next I’ll preen the paint job and install the electronics.

Ear molds opened up easy and came out great! Will run silicone ears Monday.

I am now caught up on all customer projects at long last and back to the “Iron Giant” and also that studio scale X-Wing. Its been along time since I could work on my own projects.

Meanwhile I am working on a new feature length movie script called, “A Boy and His Rocket”. Sci-Fi space movie, fun, and family oriented with a strong message that we should get off our sorry complaining asses and explore space!

More on that later.
